grocery shopping
a willy wagtail hovers
above the grass

mall dusk
the pavement cracks
under heavy footsteps

spring twilight
jasmine scent
colours the air

the streetlight
becomes a spot light
a rooftop band plays

pedestrian mall
weaving through the crowd
the artist’s paint fumes

In afternoon light
on a park bench
wasting time
I’ve never felt more alone
on a crowded street

spring night
the neighbours newborn
screaming through it
