the last rays of sun
the smell of smoke lingers
from my neighbour’s cooking

A broken lift
and now a broken lock
this old hotel
some days I wish
I had Shiva’s power

a warm still night
ripples from a long gone boat
touch the riverbank

This is a particularly evocative set but it’s the third one that took my breath away…

As always, thank you. It was the one I had to work on the most! I had boat long gone, then I decided it was a long gone boat, so it could be crazy, in a Kerouac kind of way. Also had an epiphany when I realised the ripples didn’t just reach the shore, they touched it.
