Haiku one hundred and nineteen.

Hello all!

Well we left the Perhentian’s and made our way to Kota Bharu.

Night market feast

stray cats fill

the empty chairs

on a Kota Bharu street

starling song competes

with the traffic

on the road

to Kota Bharu

a cow licks her calf

leaving the markets

I come face to face with

the full moon

a night market stall

two children sleep

in one chair

I was trying to find out more about the birds here. I think they sound like starlings, so I have used starlings in my haiku. They are probably some other type of bird, I really can’t find any info. I did find this blog: http://huqelberry.com/kota-bharus-food-kota-bharus-birds which confirms my suspicion that the bird song is a recording, pumped out through speakers. I did see what looked like speakers, but thought they were holes that were shaped that way to amplify the actual bird song, from the birds which fly in and out of the rooftop cages/rooms.

Thanks for reading!
